Burnham on Sea U3A
The aim of the group is to attract those of the U3A membership who are reasonably active, have an
interest in the countryside and are willing to turn out to support the group at all times.
We meet twice a month, either on a Wednesday or a Thursday, always at 10 am and share cars to the
starting point where possible.
The group has been in existence since 1994. Walks vary between four and seven miles over all types of
terrain and in all weather. It is therefore essential that members wear walking boots and carry wet weather gear.
We carry our own refreshments, making stops for coffee and lunch.
Social occasions occur during the year and a programme of walks is arranged by submissions from members
twice a year. A library of maps and past walks is available to encourage new leaders.
Fitness is one of the things required for membership as walking in Somerset does mean encountering obstacles.
On the other hand, it is a beautiful County with varied landscape.
A sense of adventure, conviviality and a willingness to join in are assets for those who may wish
to join us and new members are always welcome.
