Burnham on Sea U3A

The aim of this group is to give members the confidence, when visiting Spain, to speak and understand simple conversation, be able to shop, visit a medical centre, and ask directions.
The group is enthusiastic and eager to learn and it would therefore be difficult now to enrol a total beginner. This, however, opens the opportunity for someone to initiate another “Spanish for Beginners” group.
The group averages 12 although, for a variety of reasons, none of the original members remain.
We have used the BBC course Espana Viva together with the coresponding activity book and also the Caxton Spanish Language Course. We have read letters from Entrada, Nelson. These learning media are interspersed with activity sheets, games and speaking and listening activities taken from a variety of sources.
The group meets on Mondays, 9.30 to 11.30 weekly in room 1 at the Community Centre.
Group leader is Peter Pink, 787683.
