Scrabble 2 meets at the Community Centre on the first and fourth Monday of each month from 2-4 p.m. It is hoped it will meet more frequently in due course.

The group has about a dozen active members. The range of ability is considerable so inexperienced players or even complete beginners are very welcome.

The play is in line with UK Scrabble clubs. Games differ from those in Scrabble 1 in one significant way. Each member plays against one other person as in Chess.

This avoids a number of the problems of larger groups, in particular that your success or failure depends on the strength or otherwise of the player on your right; also your turn comes up more often, and golden opportunities don’t disappear so frequently!

Games are informal and are usually played without penalty challenges and with access to the Scrabble Dictionary. A list of all the 2- and 3-letter words is provided.
