A second Group has been formed, and meets at the Community Centre on the first Monday of each month from 2-4 p.m. It is hoped it will meet more frequently in due course.

BRING YOUR OWN SET IF YOU CAN

The play in this group will be in line with UK Scrabble clubs. Games will differ from Scrabble 1 in three ways.

a) one-plays-another as in Chess.

This avoids a number of the problems of larger groups, in particular that your success or failure depends on the strength or otherwise of the player on your right! Also your turn comes up more often, and golden opportunities don’t disappear so frequently!

b) without use of the Scrabble Dictionary.

but with a list of two- and three-letter words provided if desired

c] challenges are independently judged.

A handicap system might be introduced to make games more even, as well as more interesting to players of different abilities.
