Burnham on Sea U3A
Poetry
We have been in existence since the U3A in Burnham first started. Members have come and gone, but we manage to keep an average of eight. We meet once a month on the 4th Monday afternoon and enjoy one and a half hours immersed in reading, or listening to what we’ve collectively chosen the month before.
Although none of us are technically able in poetry construction, we try and ‘have a go’ for “homework”. Mostly though, we concentrate on reading established author’s works.
Halfway through, we enjoy a cup of tea and a little natter — then back to a few more favourite poems.
We’ve been meeting in members’ homes, but have the alternative of the Community Centre.
If you would like to join us, you’ll be most welcome. It’s a great escape and I’m sure a wonderful tonic.
