German

This group, set up in November 2006, meets on Fridays, from 2.00 to 3.00pm in the Community Centre. It is not now suitable for absolute beginners, but could appeal to those who studied German at school or have picked up fragments in other ways.

The broad aim is to involve participants in as many activities as possible, the basis being a book and a CD course that is used every week.

The leader attempts to develop the following skills - Listening (through CDs and dictation), Pronunciation, Speaking, Reading, Writing and Conversation.

The basic grammar is covered. Above all, however, the aim is to get members involved in the language, communication being much more important than formal skills.
