Following the Open Day of the U3A, a number of people expressed an interest in joining the Book Group. The first Book Group is full and so we are starting Book Group 2.

My name is Christine Preston and as an avid reader all my life, I volunteered to lead the Group.

The first Meeting will be on Thursday 12 April, at 2pm, at my house, 4, Kinver Terrace, The Esplanade, Burnham-on-Sea.

This will be an informal inaugeral meeting to register members and also to talk about future books for the Group. I have registered with the Library and am able to get copies of the books chosen.

The first book will be given out at this meeting to read and discuss at the next meeting, which will be 10th May.

Future meetings will be on the second Thursday in each month.

We will need to decide the book for that date so bring your ideas to the first meeting.

Every member of the Group will choose a book in turn and hopefully we will be able to cover a wide range of fact and fiction, with some lively discussions.

The Group still has spaces for both men and women and if you are interested in joining please give me a ring.

The first Meeting of Book Group 2 took place in April when 8 members, including 3 gentlemen registered.

The first book was given out which is “Semi-Detached” by Griff Rhys Jones and this will be discussed at our next Meeting on Thursday 10th May.

“Attention all Shipping” by Charlie Connolly

We are able to obtain the books from the Library free of charge.
