Skittles "2"

Our December meeting was the fifth meeting, and we now have a very cheerful gathering of 14 people. Being December meant it was time for our Xmas lunch to follow our usual skittling session. Once again the ‘boys’ beat the ‘girls’ despite the banter from the girls in an (unsuccessful) attempt to put the boys off their bowling. There were bigger cheers all round when the bowl went through the gap than when they were all knocked down.

After this, we all retired to the dining room for a super Xmas lunch where we (temporarily) re-named the movement the U1A (university of the first age), because of the noise we made and of the games we played at the dinner table (we would have told our children off if they had done as we did!). The publican and his wife were more than happy to see us having so much fun. The enjoyment was capped by the superb meal laid on for us – a really excellent meal.

If you wish to join our group, you must have a good sense of humour, join in our frivolity and help stand up the skittles.
